Everything we know about the PS5

Next gen gaming is so close I can almost taste it. With both tech giants gearing up to release their latest gaming consoles, the internet is rife with rumours. With a supposed ‘leak’ hitting the web, we might have just got our first look at price, design and release date for the highly anticipated PS5.

If the leaks are anything to go by, it won’t be long before we have our hands on the powerful beast.

How much will the PS5 cost?

If the leaks are to be believed, the price tag is $500, or £449 if you’re in the UK. Personally, I was expecting it to be a little bit steeper than that, so I’ll await confirmation from Sony with bated breath.

When will the PS5 be released?

The PS5 is set to be released on October 30th, if the leaker is being truthful. This makes sense to be – Sony will definitely want to cash in on all of those sweet, sweet Christmas sales. In fact, if they don’t use this as their release window – they’re missing out.

What will it look like?

There’s a lot of fan-made edits circling the web, mainly from patent designs. We can expect the console to look something like this, though…

What games will be released on launch?

Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo 7, a new Killzone entry, Demon Souls Remastered, Godfall are to be expected on October 30th. Not the strongest of line ups, at least in my humble opinion. However, with Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake being pushed back, I feel like they might market it towards to user gamers getting it on next gen.

Will it be backwards compatible?

Yes. And no. Supposedly, every PS4 game will be playable on the PS5. However, PS3 games are looking unlikely. Damn. A guy can dream, right?

Anything else?

The leaker says that we’ll be getting a full bunch of info at PlayStation’s Meeting event on February 5th. It’s not that far away, and we’ll be finding out the truth. The slogan “IT’S TIME TO PLAY” was also released by the leaker, and it’s since been seen in the Twitter bio of PlayStation Europe on Twitter. Take these leaks with a grain of salt, though. After all, anyone can get on the internet and make up fake leaks. For me, though, this all seems pretty likely…
