Another month goes by, another month we’re starved for new Lady Gaga music. It’s been almost three years since Gaga released her critically acclaimed album ‘Joanne’, and, if you’re anything like me, us Gaga superfans are dying for new tunes.
I mean, sure, we’ve been spoilt as a fan base. We’ve had her starring in the Oscar-winning ‘A Star Is Born’, a whole soundtrack to accompany the movie, and seen her perform her ass off in Sin City.
But us Monsters are a greedy little lot who always want more from our Mother Monster. So, to keep time ticking over until we’re finally blessed with Gaga’s next studio album, I’ve scoured the internet for every single trace of #LG6 I could find, to compile a complete list of everything we know about the mysterious record.
When will #LG6 be released?
Starting with the question that’s on everyone’s lips. I mean, honestly it’s anyone’s guess. I doubt even the Lady herself knows when her next release will drop.
Rumours circulating the web, however, point at a 2019 release. With the AMAs coming up in November, it would be perfect for Gaga to drop the lead in October, perform it the next month, and drop the album around Christmas time to cash in on those sweet, sweet sales (seriously Gaga just hire me as your manager already). There’s also the theory that LG6 will drop nine months after her sassy tweet addressing tabloid rumours that she’s pregnant, which would make for a release this December… it’s all lining up. Then again, she’s not Taylor Swift, who loves to plan every detail of her song releases.
Following on from her usual trends, Gaga tends to release a new studio album roughly every two years. We had ‘The Fame’ in 2008, followed by ‘The Fame Monster’ in 2009. ‘Born This Way’ followed in 2011, and then ‘ARTPOP’ dropped in 2013. We had her collab with Tony Bennett, ‘Cheek To Cheek’ in 2014, ‘Joanne’ in 2016, and ‘A Star Is Born’ last year. When you look at it that way, we’re pretty spoilt with Gaga bangers. Using that logic, it’s a pretty sure bet that she’ll drop a new record either this year or early 2020… but only time will tell.
Lady Gaga’s new album is expected to be released early 2020, as confirmed by Oliver Nusse (CEO of UMG France) at Universal Music France’s Open Session today. 🌟 #LG6

According to Twitter, Oliver Nusse – who’s CEO of Universal Music France – claimed that Lady Gaga’s next album will be released in ‘early 2020’, saying such at an Open Session. Apparently, it’s also been claimed that Adele and Rihanna are due to drop albums later this year, so we’ll see if these claims are true or not.
I mean, it would’ve been smart to release LG6 while the Oscar hype was still hot. She’s been riding a train of success over the past few years, from her sick Superbowl performance to everyone and their aunt falling in love with ‘A Star Is Born’ last year. But hey, I guess you can never rush perfection.
Let us not forget that she’s been focusing on her Enigma residency in Vegas, which is running until at least 2020. While there are many gaps in show dates which would give Gaga prime opportunity to drop and promote an album, our girl may want to focus on getting the show done first (please no, I can’t wait that long).
In the past she’s been known to create almost whole albums, have a change of heart, scrap the whole thing and start from a fresh perspective (looking at you, ‘Joanne’). With Gaga, anything’s possible. But I guess that’s why we love her.
Who’s on the album?
BloodPop, who produced every single track on her award-winning ‘Joanne’ album, is pretty much confirmed to be producing at least some, if not most, of LG6. He’s constantly been teasing us with snippets of him in the studio with Gaga, leaving us desperate to get our hands on those music stems. While it’s a safe bet that BloodPop will be on LG6, nothing’s confirmed, and Gaga could have a change of heart and scrap most of his tracks like she did with DJWS on her 2016 release. Gaga does what Gaga wants.

It’s possible that her close friend and prior producer Mark Ronson will show up on the elusive LG6, too. The two clearly had a palpable connection, as shown in her Netflix documentary, and I’m sure Gaga will want to reignite that creative spark.
RedOne may pop up on a track or two, too. He’s appeared on every single main album Gaga’s ever released, and he’s the man who produced some of her most iconic tracks back in the day. It’ll be nice to continue the tradition of having him show up on her upcoming release, but we all know by now to expect the unexpected when it comes to Gaga.
SOPHIE has produced some tracks for the ever-elusive LG6, at least in a video captured by a fan which confirms it. As SOPHIE says herself, though, whether these tracks see the light of day is another matter altogether. It’s ultimately all up to the Lady herself.

Boyz Noise is also likely to show up on the record, having produced the backing track for Gaga’s Enigma residency. He was also involved with some of the production on ‘A Star Is Born’, so Gaga’s obviously a fan of the German producer. Here’s hoping that he’ll show up on her next release… it’s looking as though it’ll come to pass.
My personal (and very unlikely) hope for the album is that she brings back Fernando Garibay to produce a track or two, who was the main producer for ‘Born This Way’. There’s something about his dark and gritty production that transcends space and time, and I’d love to see him make a comeback.
Someone who certainly won’t be coming back to work with Gaga is DJWS, who confirmed on Instagram that #LG6 is going to be produced by other artists. At least that should get the Monsters off his back for a little while.
Cool, any collabs on the cards?
Again, nothing’s been confirmed, but we can live in hope. She’s no stranger to collaborating with other artists, having done a whole album with Tony Bennett, multiple songs for ‘A Star Is Born’ with Bradley Cooper, and a load of her early stuff featuring artists such as Space Cowboy (how’s he, these days?) and Colby O’Donis. In her later “proper” album releases, though, she tends to stay solo, so who knows?
There are always rumours going around about Gaga collabing with fellow artists, particularly Rihanna. Back in a twitter exchange during the ‘ARTPOP’ era, the two megastars both tweeted lyrics to Gaga’s ‘Sexxx Dreams’, adding fuel to the fire of rumours of their collaboration. Recently, Rihanna has shut down those rumours, saying: “It’s not in the books right now, but I’m not against it.”
There’s also the fact that Gaga’s recorded collaborations with artists before that have never been officially released. Like the infamous ‘Greatest Thing’ with Cher, for example. Fans begged for eons for it to finally be released in an official medium, but Cher stated that Gaga was the one who never wanted it sent out. Who knows how other many sick collabs exists out there that we don’t even know about?
I’d say the chances of her having a track with a featuring artist on it are pretty high, but I reckon it’ll be a lesser known singer. Time will eventually reveal all.
The mysterious Tweet
Gaga’s tweeted one single thing. In fact, on single letter. “F.” That’s it. That’s all she’s posted, but it’s sent Little Monsters all over the world into meltdown. Bobby Campbell – her manager – and a couple of music producers have also liked the tweet, hinting that it’s significant. But what does it meaaaan? Some people think it means ‘fun’, as it’s popped up a couple of times on her Instagram story.
Maybe the ‘f’ stands for February? It would fit in line with my early 2020 prediction…

So… What’s the album title?
Haha, if only we knew. The most popular choice seems to be the simply self-titled ‘GAGA’, in line with her latest tattoo. She also changed all of her social media profile pictures to this simplistically beautiful image not so long ago, leading many to believe that it’d be the artwork used for the cover.
I mean, honestly, I’m here for this as the cover. I know a lot of fans would be disappointed if this was the title/art after having seen it on her social media for all of these weeks, but I think it’s such a cool concept. Then again, every single album cover has had Lady Gaga’s face decorating it, so it’d be a shame to break that tradition.
Gaga usually gets the name of her records tattooed somewhere on her body… so was her Gaga ink a hint that’s been staring us in the face all along? And, if that is the case, and the album is indeed simply called ‘GAGA’, does that mean she’s dropping the ‘Lady’, and that this record will be pure pop perfection?
Do we know any song titles?
Onion Girl, TEA, Temple… Just kidding, those were all the ARTPOP Act II tracks that we were promised that never saw the light of day (definitely still a tad bitter about that…)
Gaga’s only just about acknowledged the existence of LG6, let alone dropped any song titles. Then again, she’s been known to drop a few subtle hints in her tweets in the past, like the iconic Tweet below which was, as it turned out, foreshadowing ‘Aura’. Get hunting, Monsters, because who knows what other hints we may have missed over the past few months.
It’s also possible that ‘Enigma’ will make it onto the track-list, named after her Vegas show. Plus, there’s also the usual suspects that make the rounds every time Gaga’s due to release new work, like Chaos Angel (remade into ‘Angel Down’?). Whatever the songs are named, I can’t wait to see if we have any iconic titles like ‘Highway Unicorn (Road To Love’).
What genre will LG6 be?
There’s three likely directions that Gaga’s gonna head in for LG6.
Option number 1: Pure, filthy pop. She’s had a run of… let’s say, filtered down releases, lately. ‘Joanne’ was more stripped back and personal, featuring more saxophones and pianos than sick, heavy EDM drops. Some suspect (or maybe hope is the better word), that Gaga’s gonna go in the opposite direction with her new album, and treat the fans to the Gaga they fell in love with, the ‘Born This Way’, fist-pumping leather-wearing freak. If Gaga is indeed teaming up with Boys Noize for her next album, then the snippet below is something we can expect to show up.
Option number 2: Gaga could go in the opposite direction, and follow on from her recent success at being more of a ‘Lady’ than the ‘Gaga’. Expect more piano ballads, more heartfelt lyrics and more of her raw, unfiltered vocals. I mean, I’d be down.
Option number 3: Rock. This is probably the least viable option, but I’d love for Gaga to release a full on rock album. We all know that she’s a heavy metal superfan (I mean, she even has a song called ‘Heavy Metal Lover’), and her voice is perfectly suited to do a screaming, punk-infused rock album.
Plenty. There’s the possibility that the super talented Eli Russell Linnetz is involved with the visuals for this album. Gaga dropped a bunch of images on her Instagram many moons ago, sending Little Monsters into meltdown, thinking they were gonna wake up any day to a brand-spanking new album.
Just look at how sick those photos are! If that’s the type of vibe we’re getting for LG6, then sign me the hell up! (Though this was quuuuuite a while ago now, so I won’t hold my breath).
Edit: Apparently this photo shoot was the original concept of her ‘Enigma’ show in Vegas, but it was scrapped.
She’s also been seen multiple times inside the studio over the past couple of years. Whether it’s been for Enigma, other features or for LG6 remains to be seen, but it’s highly like that Miss Germanotta has been putting together her upcoming album in some form or another. When we get to see the masterpiece remains to be seen.
The ever evolving mind of Lady Gaga is a complex, wonderful thing, but that sometimes means Monsters are left bitter and resentful at the lack of new music. Remember that she’s a human being, too! She’s done a movie, a soundtrack and an entire residency since her last album, so let’s count our blessings and remember what a hard worker she is!
Gaga’s been posting loads of teasers on her Instagram lately (August 2019), mainly of her in the studio. With captions like ‘music’ and microphones galore… something’s definitely in the works. She also recently shared a meme on her Twitter and on the long-forgotten LittleMonsters website. It’s been literal years since Gaga’s been light-hearted and funny on Twitter… so is this a sign of new music to come? I sure hope so.
Release date: Late 2019, Early 2020 (most likely).
Genre: Experimental pop.
Collabs? Yes, but only one.
Album name? GAGA.
With Gaga, though? Who knows. She is quite the enigma, after all. While we pass the time, we can look back at some of her most iconic looks at the Haus of Gaga.
