Ten years ago, Gaga said she’d love to have a museum featuring all of the outfits and tech from her shows. Ten years later, that dream became a reality.
I touched down in Las Vegas on the 27th. By the 29th, I got a Twitter notification (I’ve got Gaga alters turned on, duh), saying that Gaga was opening up something called the ‘Haus of Gaga’ for the very first time. Imagine my excitement! Not only was I going to see the Queen of Pop perform the next day, but I’d be one of the first people to ever see whatever this new exhibit was.
But like, where was it? How much was it? What was it? All of these questions bounced around my mind. Did we have to get tickets? Where did we get tickets? The only thing I knew for certain, the only thing I knew was going to happen was that, one way or another, I was going to the Haus of Gaga – whatever it was – and then I was going to dance my ass off to her sick tunes.
What is the Haus of Gaga?
IT’S THE BEST FRICKIN’ THING EVER, that’s what it is. It’s an exhibit curated by Nicola Formichetti showcasing all of Lady Gaga’s most iconic wigs, outfits and props she’s used in her tours and music videos over the past decade. There’s something for casual fans and die-hard Monsters alike; the iconic meat dress, her hair bow from ‘The Fame’ era, her outfit from ‘Government Hooker’ at the Born This Way Ball… if you’ve got a fave Gaga look, chances are it’s here.
One of my favourite pieces was the gigantic ballet shoes she wore in the ‘Marry the Night’ music video. With it being my fave music video of all time, it was almost like a spiritual experience to see it directly in front of me, in the flesh, knowing that the Lady herself had actually worn them.
There’s also Gaga music (duh) playing constantly over-head, from her hits like ‘Bad Romance’ to her album tracks like ‘ARTPOP’. Gazing around the little room, with Gaga merch lining each and every wall, surrounded by Little Monsters (guys dressed up in the ‘Paparazzi’ VMAs look, fans wearing merch, the usual), while having Gaga tunes blasting out was just the coolest thing.
ALSO when I was there Lady Gaga frickin’ entered the Haus! I was queuing in line to get a good spot at her Enigma show, when suddenly screams erupted from the other side of the casino. Naturally, I ran as fast as I could, weaving through the blaring slot machines in the hopes of getting a glimpse at the Lady herself. She was literally RIGHT THERE. One of the Monster pals I made in line managed to capture this sick video of her.
Where is the Haus of Gaga?
The Haus of Gaga is at Park MGM Theatre in Las Vegas, smack bang in the middle of the Strip. I mean, of course it is. It makes sense for a celebration of all things to do with Lady Gaga to be in Sin City, surrounded by flashing lights and all things grandiose.
It’s in the middle of the casino, but if you can’t find it just ask a staff member who’ll be more than happy to help.
How do I get into the Haus of Gaga?
You line up. It’s as simple as that! I went on the first day it opened, so the queue was winding through the whole casino. The wait was about 45 minutes, but when you’re standing there surrounded by fellow Monsters the time whizzes by! Plus, there’s Gaga music being played throughout the casino while you wait, so that’s always a plus.
You don’t need to pay – the Haus of Gaga is completely free! – they just ask that you make a small donation to the Born This Way Foundation if you can afford to do so. You don’t even need a ticket to her gig, you can just show up, get in line and get ready to experience Gaga in all her Monster glory.
Once you’re inside, you’re only allowed a meagre 20 minutes to have a beak about. It’s a tight squeeze to soak up everything you want to see. Having your camera ready and snapping everything in sight is a good way to go, but remember to just relax and enjoy the outfits you’re seeing! It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
There are honestly so many Gaga looks it’s insane. There’s her Ally outfit from ‘A Star Is Born’, complete with the hand-written lyrics Gaga herself had penned. There’s the outfit she wore at the beginning of her artRAVE tour. There’s the iconic Alexander McQueen VMAs dress. There’s the look from her amazing Superbowl performance. There’s disco sticks, hair bows and memorabilia that sparkles and dazzles in the ever-changing light. In fact, there’s 40 outfits and accessories to feast your eyes on. For any Monster, it’s a treat.

The Haus of Gaga is like Mecca to a Little Monster. It’s a pilgrimage you have to make, if you can. Honestly, it was like I’d died and gone to disco heaven.
If you’ve got a ticket to Enigma it’s the perfect way to kill those extra few hours before the gig starts. It’s certainly less expensive than spending your dollars on those slot machines!
